Grin.eco Podcast episode "Is Space Sustainable?" is live!

Our environment extends way beyond the planet 🌏 ✨

With this week’s Grin.eco Podcast guest - Andrew Wilson, the lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University, we dived into space-based solar energy, space debris and more!

Wait a minute… But what do you mean by ‘space sustainability‘? 🧐

Not exactly your everyday dinner table topic, is it? That would be really cool, though. But I’m afraid space sustainability is not that well-understood.

What we usually refer to is in fact space debris, which could be any bits of metal (e.g. from rocket parts) stuck is our orbit. This might not sound like much, but it can potentially start a chain reaction of collisions that would lead to more and more debris accumulation. Even to the point where the space becomes inaccessible for future generations. 🪐

But there is more to space sustainability than that. It also includes the sustainable development of e.g. satellites on Earth (sustainability on the ground). But apart from production itself, we also need to think about launching the spacecraft and its possible re-entry into the atmosphere.

Space sustainability can become quite a complex topic. Luckily, we have an expert onboard! 💫 Dr Andrew Wilson explains this and much more in our fascinating conversation “Is Space Sustainable?“.

Take your knowledge on space sustainability to the next level 🚀 The link below will take you to the entire episode available now on our website!
