"The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide" by Jen Gale
Everything you need to know to make small changes that make a big difference
We want to be more eco-friendly, we really do! But we might feel too intimidated or simply have no idea where to start.
Good news! Look no further, we got exactly what you need.
Our next author, Jen Gale, provides us with a guide full of actually doable ideas on how to make small changes that will have a positive impact on the environment.
The (ish) part of the title is there to remind us that we can’t always be perfect and we shouldn’t feel bad about it. The mentality of ‘either everything or nothing‘ is not the way to go. We want to help our planet and change for the better, so let’s do it one step at a time.
A few things worth considering:
shopping involves a surprising amount of psychology - it’s a good idea to try to avoid buying things for other reasons than actually needing them
throwing away might be a waste of a good product, but also bear in mind that all the trash goes somewhere and we’re rapidly running out of space for them
using glass instead of plastic and refilling the bottles you have at home like shampoos and hand washes
reducing your meats doesn’t need to involve going 100% vegan, a meat-free day or two a week is a great start
doing some research to make sure you’re investing in the greener option wherever possible helps to switch the focus to more eco-initiatives
There is a lot that can be done and it doesn’t necessarily need to require living a hobo life on a desert. Check out our summary and choose the things that resonate with you the most. Every step, even the smallest one, is helpful if taken in the right direction.
